Iran Denounces UK Foreign Secretary’s “Misleading” Remarks

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly rebuked recent comments by British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, describing his statements as “inaccurate” and “provocative.” These remarks, delivered during a NATO meeting, accused Iran of fueling instability in the Middle East and supporting Russia’s military efforts in Ukraine—a claim Iran has categorically denied.

Majid Nili, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Director General for Western Europe, highlighted the UK’s historical role in regional unrest, citing its past interventions in West Asia and support for controversial regimes. Nili argued that such actions have significantly contributed to the instability Lammy referenced.

Iranian officials rejected allegations concerning Tehran’s nuclear ambitions and its purported supply of ballistic missiles to Russia, calling these accusations “baseless” and an attempt to shift blame. Lammy had emphasized the UK’s commitment to addressing Iran’s activities in coordination with international allies, including during discussions with U.S. officials.

In a broader call for diplomacy, Iran urged the UK to prioritize constructive engagement over accusatory rhetoric. Tehran stated that fostering meaningful dialogue would better serve regional peace and global stability.

This exchange highlights ongoing tensions between the UK and Iran, particularly as the latter continues to face international scrutiny over its policies and actions in global conflicts.
