Two soldiers were kidnapped by armed terrorists in the Kurrum Par area of Lakki Marwat district on Friday. The soldiers were traveling from Karak to Mianwali in a passenger coach. Armed men blocked the rural road near the Wanda Gulapa area and forced the soldiers out of the vehicle. One soldier managed to escape, but the other was taken to an unknown location. Local residents often use these roads to travel between Karak, Lakki Marwat, and other parts of Punjab. Authorities have launched a search operation to find the missing soldier and bring the abductors to justice.
In a separate incident, a police officer, Constable Kamran Khan, was martyred in Bannu. He was performing his duties in the Mamashkhel area when armed motorcyclists shot him. The attackers fled the scene immediately. Police launched an extensive search but had not apprehended the culprits by Friday evening.
Constable Khan’s funeral took place at the police lines, where family members, colleagues, and senior officials paid their respects. Police officials, including Regional Police Officer Imran Shahid, condemned the attack and praised Khan’s bravery. Shahid promised that the police would not rest until the attackers were arrested and brought to justice. He also assured the officer’s family that his sacrifice would not be forgotten.
Both incidents underline the increasing threats faced by security forces and law enforcement officers in the region. These violent actions by terrorist groups highlight the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect civilians and maintain law and order. Despite the risks, both the military and police forces continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of the public and combat terrorism in Pakistan.
